Key Responsibilities
Administer and support ADABAS databases in day-to-day operations.
Perform routine DBA tasks:
• Database monitoring, health checks, housekeeping
• Backup/restore and recovery support (as per existing procedures)
• Support dataset management and capacity tracking related to ADABAS usage
• Execute changes following defined governance:
• Parameter updates, configuration adjustments, and controlled deployments
• Support upgrades/maintenance activities (as assigned)
• Troubleshoot incidents and performance issues:
• Identify bottlenecks, support tuning actions, collaborate with system/performance teams
• Support data integrity and operational readiness:
• Validate backups, assist with recovery drills, maintain runbooks
• Work with application teams using ADABAS (and potentially Natural-based workloads, if applicable) to coordinate releases and resolve production issues.
• Ensure documentation is kept current: operational procedures, technical notes, change records, handover materials.
Qualifications
Degree in IT/CS (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Role Summary
As an ADABAS DBA (Intermediate), you will support the administration, availability, performance, and operational stability of Software AG ADABAS databases in a mainframe environment. You’ll collaborate with system programmers, application teams, and DXC stakeholders, with CET working hour alignment.
Requirement
3–6 years (flexible) experience as ADABAS DBA / mainframe database support.
Practical knowledge of:
• ADABAS administration concepts (files, spaces/datasets concepts, operational utilities)
• Mainframe fundamentals: z/OS basics, JCL, TSO/ISPF
• Monitoring, incident handling, and structured troubleshooting
• Good understanding of backup/recovery principles in enterprise environments.
• Strong communication skills in English (technical writing + collaboration).
Nice-to-have / Advantage
• Experience with Software AG ecosystem (e.g., Natural, EntireX or related tooling) is a plus.
• Performance tuning exposure, capacity planning, or working with Performance & Capacity teams.
• Experience working in DXC-like managed services environment / ITIL processes.
• Relevant certifications or formal training in Software AG / mainframe database operations.
